How to know how high to tee your ball
One of the most asked questions from new golfers is “how high do I tee up my golf ball?”
This is a bit of a tricky one and the best answer is “how ever high you want”.
Ok, I admit that’s a bit of sucky answer, and if you want a guide, you should tee the ball high enough so approximately half the ball is above your driver when you rest you driver on the ground behind the ball. If you have an upright swing you probably will want to tee it up a bit lower, conversely, if you have a flat swing you’re most likely going to want to tee it a bit higher.
For irons, when you’re on a Par 3, tee the ball so it’s just off the ground, a little higher as your clubs get longer. Many amateurs, particularly those ones that think they are better than they actually are, think it’s cool, or think they are cool by not using a tee. But you need to follow the advice of Tiger and Jack, and tee it up whenever you can on Par 3’s.
