What to do when lightening strikes golf video
In North America and most parts of the Western world courses will have warning sirens when lightening is in the area. In Thailand and throughout many parts of Asia it’s up to the golfers discretion whether to play on or not. Sometime during your golfing career you’re most likely going to have to make a decision on your own when lightening is close. Here’s a few tips:
- Don’t stand with your 1 iron raised above your head in the middle of an open fairway
- Stay away from water, that includes thinking you are Tiger Woods and attempting to walk on water
- Don’t pass the time by sparking up a dooby in your golf cart
- Don’t take a whizz under a tree
- Look for a substantial manmade building. Drink huts and the like aren’t the best protection
- Stay away from metal, that includes playing air guitar with your steel shafted 7 iron
- Don’t flock together in case your mate gets hit, you don’t want to get electrocuted. 15 yards apart is a good guide
- If there’s no shelter, head to lowlands or a valley
Obey these rules and you should be sweet next time lightening strikes!
