Montgomerie picked as Europe Ryder Cup captain

By Associated Press
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Just call him Captain Monty.

"It's not just an honor but a huge responsibility as well" Colin Montgomerie said Wednesday after being chosen to captain Europe's team for next year's Ryder Cup in Wales. "It is important we do everything we can to claim back the Ryder Cup in Wales in 2010."

Montgomerie is Europe's second most successful Ryder Cup player behind Nick Faldo with 20 wins, nine losses and seven halves for 23 1/2 points. He was picked over Jose Maria Olazabal, Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam.

Montgomerie has played on eight Ryder Cup teams, winning five times. He was left off the team that lost to the United States last year at Valhalla.

"It became very obvious in the discussions in Abu Dhabi that we wanted the right man for 2010 and as that meeting progressed Colin's name came more and more into the frame," said Thomas Bjorn, the chairman of the Ryder Cup tournament committee. "At one stage we thought about naming two captains but we felt that we should concentrate on one captain at a time."

Montgomerie will be 47 when the competition starts at Celtic Manor in September 2010, making him Europe’s youngest captain.

The United States has already chosen Corey Pavin as its captain. He will be 50 at the time.

Montgomerie made his Ryder Cup debut in 1991, and has played alongside greats such as Faldo and Seve Ballesteros.

"I dreamed this opportunity might come my way, but far-off dreams I must admit," Montgomerie said. "We speak here 17, 18 years later and here it is."

Only a few weeks ago, Montgomerie had been hoping to be a part of Europe's team as a player.

"It just seems the time is right for me to take the helm here and be captain," he said. "I will not in any way, shape or form come close to qualifying for the team."

As for the 2012 Ryder Cup, Montgomerie is already hoping he will have a chance to play again.

"I don’t believe I cannot compete in 2012. That is now my aim," Montgomerie said. "But we're concentrating today on 2010 and that's where we are."

Terminator Taxing Golf

A proposal by California's governor to include golf in a series of tax increases has angered duffers and, apparently, thrilled headline writers.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to add taxing a round of golf to a series of new service fees to close a nearly $42 billion budget deficit, the Associated Press reports.

Hence the string headlines: Sacramento's KXTV's "Golfers Tee'd Off Over Proposed Tax" and The Fresno Bee's "Governor Deserves A Clubbing For This One"

Schwarzenegger appears to be in deep financial rough: The AP quotes Scott Pattison, executive director of the National Association of State Budget Officers, as saying that such fees are so "politically difficult and controversial" that it's usually one of the last proposals that's floated.

Captain Monty for Wales 210

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=3865826&type=story

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Just call him Captain Monty.
"It's not just an honor but a huge responsibility as well," Colin Montgomerie said Wednesday after being chosen to captain Europe's team for next year's Ryder Cup in Wales. "It is important we do everything we can to claim back the Ryder Cup in Wales in 2010."

Montgomerie has played on eight Ryder Cup teams, winning five times. He was left off the team that lost to the United States last year at Valhalla.

Monty Captain in 2010 Ryder Cup

Colin Montgomerie will lead Europe's bid to win back the Ryder Cup in 2010 after being confirmed as captain for the tournament at Celtic Manor.

Montgomerie replaces Nick Faldo, who was heavily criticised following Europe's record defeat in 2008, with the 45-year-old getting the nod ahead of Sandy Lyle and Jose Maria Olazabal for the role.

However can Monty lead the side to glory in 2010, or should he really be playing at Celtic Manor?

Groping golfer 'sexually immature', court told

Aspiring professional golfer Leighton Lyle was sexually immature and a virgin when he fondled a woman's breast on a long-haul flight, a court has been told.

Lyle, the brother of Australian US PGA tour player Jarrod Lyle, fears his own golf ambitions could be ruined if he is convicted.

The 2007 Victorian amateur champion has admitted indecently touching the woman seated next to him while she slept during a Los Angeles to Melbourne flight in April of that year.

In the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday, Lyle's lawyer Julie Sutherland put his behaviour down to sexual immaturity and said in his dedication to golf, he may have neglected his love life.

"At 24, this young man had never been really going out with anyone. He was a virgin. Perhaps that factored into this offence," she said.

However, Ms Sutherland said Lyle - who recently received his tour card to play professional golf in Australia - could have his hopes of being a professional dashed by a conviction.

"He's going to be punished, in effect, for the rest of his life," she said.

Ms Sutherland said his behaviour was opportunistic and he deserved a bond without conviction, but the crown argued a conviction was deserved because the offending was serious.

The court heard Lyle, 25, from Shepparton, was ashamed, embarrassed and sorry for his actions.

Forensic psychiatrist Jeffrey Cummins told the court he was confident Lyle posed a minimal risk of reoffending.

"He should regard this as an opportunity to learn more about socialising with women," he said.

The court heard since the offence Lyle had signed up to internet dating websites and was socialising more.

Lyle, who has pleaded guilty to indecent assault, will be sentenced by Magistrate Charles Rozencwajg on Friday.

KAPALUA, Hawaii -- Geoff Ogilvy finished the final round the way he started Sunday, six shots clear of a winners-only field at the Mercedes-Benz Championship. It was the part in the middle he could have done without.
Ogilvy was on the verge of an unseemly collapse, his six-shot lead down to one as he stood in the ninth fairway, when he drilled his approach onto the green and holed a 30-foot eagle putt to steady his nerves and send him on his way to victory at Kapalua.

With four straight birdies on the back nine to restore the margin, he sailed home to a 5-under 68 to join Ernie Els and Vijay Singh as the only wire-to-wire winners since the season-opening PGA Tour event moved to Kapalua in 1999. Anthony Kim nearly made double eagle on the last hole for a 67 to tie for second with Davis Love III, who also had a 67.

It was the fifth PGA Tour victory for Ogilvy, adding to his U.S. Open title in 2006 and a pair of World Golf Championships. He finished at 24-under 268, earned $1.12 million and moved up to No. 6 in the world. "When Geoff plays well, it never looks like he's going to hit a bad shot," Adam Scott said. But there were a few too many on the front nine, which was no walk on the beach.

Ogilvy had made only one bogey in the first three rounds, but doubled that count after this first two holes Sunday.
With the Plantation course soft from overnight rain that lasted into the morning, Ogilvy missed the fairway to the right on the opening hole and couldn't reach the green, missing an 18-foot par putt. He found a bunker with his tee shot on the second hole, blasted out to about 6 feet and missed that putt.

Just like that, his lead was down to three shots over Kim, who birdied two of the opening three holes. And even after Ogilvy appeared to steady himself with an up-and-down birdie on the par-5 fifth, followed by another good pitch to 5 feet for birdie on the sixth, he was grinding. He hit the wrong club on the seventh, came up short and took bogey. Then he missed his target some 20 yards to the right on the par-3 eighth and took another bogey.

"I've never had a six-shot lead before. It's a pretty uncomfortable feeling, to be honest with you," Ogilvy said. "I got to the green and saw I had a one-shot lead -- I figured it was mostly gone -- and it felt like a normal tournament again. I just told myself, 'It's a great spot to be after 63 holes, get on with it." And he did.

After watching Kim make another birdie to go out in 32, Ogilvy hit 3-iron to the front edge of the green and rolled in the eagle putt. That put his lead back to three, and he didn't come close to dropping another shot the rest of the round.
"From then on, I was a different person," Ogilvy said. "I played almost the best I had all week the next six holes. It was the right time for a great shot, and I happened to make the putt, which was a big bonus."

Singh (2007) and Els (2003) were tied for the lead after the first round when they went wire-to-wire. Ogilvy took the outright lead on the 14th hole of the opening round and never trailed over the final 58 holes of the tournament. Love, who only qualified for the Mercedes by winning the last tournament of the season at Disney, got up-and-down from the rough right of the 18th green for birdie to tie for second. His tie for second should move him up to about No. 55 in the world ranking, important as he tries to qualify for the Masters.

Justin Leonard went 50 holes without a bogey until dropping a shot on the 13th hole. He shot 70 to finish fifth. All of them were playing for second on the back after Ogilvy rediscovered his swing and his focus with the eagle on the par-5 ninth. The 31-year-old Australian followed that with a 20-foot birdie on the 10th, the took advantage of the easy holes with birdies.
Starting on No. 12, where he hit wedge into 5 feet, Ogilvy made four straight birdies inside 8 feet, and played conservatively on the last few holes. It was a scenic and peaceful walk as he walked downhill the last two holes toward victory, the Pacific on the horizon and the sun making Molokai appear closer than the 10 miles across the Pailolo Channel.

Asia Wins Royal Trophy

Asian captain Joe Ozaki summed up the mood of an entire continent after his team swept to a memorable 10-6 Royal Trophy win over Europe by describing it as "a dream come true".

Ozaki admitted his first taste of captaincy in 2007 was more of a nightmare as Europe powered to a nine point victory - but it was his determination not to suffer a repeat of that agony which proved the perfect motivation for him and his players.

Ozaki beamed: "Before I flew into Thailand, I had a strong intention in my mind. Asia had lost the first two matches and I really wanted to win this time.

"I think all my team members felt what I was thinking and I think they realised how I wanted them to play - aggressively and with great self-confidence. I could not be more proud of the way the did that."

There was never any danger of Asia relaxing the stranglehold they had exerted by winning both the Foursomes and Fourballs in emphatic fashion, to take an imposing 6 1/2 - 1 1/2 lead into Sunday's singles.

That meant they needed just two points from the eight remaining matches, and Ozaki felt his team's belief that the job was as good as done was one of the main reasons the European team shaded the final session 4 1/2 - 3 1/2.

He explained: "Everyone knew that we needed only two points to win the Royal Trophy and everyone was watching the leaderboard. It was a tough situation for everyone to focus on their own game."

It was even more difficult for the Asian players not to start celebrating early as Prayad Marksaeng and Toru Taniguchi effectively wrapped up those two points by charging into big leads on the front
nine in their matches.

Prayad eventually crushed Pablo Larrazabal 5&4, while Taniguchi had the honour or holing the winning putt as he overwhelmed Niclas Fasth 7&6 - a record margin for the Royal Trophy.

European captain Jose Maria Olazabal conceded: "We went out trying to get the points on the board early to try and change then momentum of the match and we almost achieved that - almost, but not quite.

"S?ren Hansen almost won the first match but they tied on 18, then Paul Lawrie won his match, followed by Nick Dougherty.

"The only problem today was that two of the matches were really down, like five or six holes, and that was a bit of a problem for everybody.

"But we didn’t have much choice to be honest: we had to go out there and try to win as many points as possible and the guys went out and tried hard. I want to thank them for doing that. But it was very difficult to come back from such a big deficit.

"This is a great event and we have to learn our lesson from this week. The Asian team has raised the bar and we are going to have come back angrier and more determined if possible to really beat these guys."

Asia's victory was a personal triumph for their Captain, whose bubbly personality has been a joyous feature of the competition.

His players threatened to throw him into the water if they won, while he responded by announcing he felt like dancing as they took the honours on the first two days.

The all-swimming, all-dancing Asian captain added: "I'm glad the players did not throw me in. The water was too shallow. I was lucky.

"I was upset with the players for suggesting it, as it was dangerous to throw me in there ! I didn't think they would do it, because everyone just wanted to hug each other and shake each other's hands.

"I was especially proud of my players for playing so well in the doubles, the Foursomes and the Fourballs, where Europe has always been so strong.

"But our teamwork was great, and I knew we would win because of that. I would have been too sad if we had lost. This win means a lot to me."

It will also mean a great deal in terms of putting the Royal Trophy even more firmly on the golfing map, and showing that Asian golfers can compete with the best players in the world without feeling they have something to prove.

And they introduced 17 year old Japanese sensation Ryo Ishikawa to a wider audience, which guarantees there will be even more focus on Asian golf over the coming years.

The Bangkok crowds had even more to celebrate as Thai golfers Prayad and Thongchai Jaidee emerged as the only men to clinch maximum points.

They combined to win their Foursomes and Fourball matches, and Thongchai matched Prayad's singles success, rubbing salt into Paul McGinley's wounds from his first defeat in six appearances for Europe by beating the Irishman 5&4.

Thongchai commented: "We knew what was going on in the other matches and we were motivated and it turned out to be a successful day, one we will all remember with great fondness.

"I played consistent golf, missed only two greens today. I played nicely. It turned out well. I’m happy with my partnership with Prayad was very productive and it is especially good for Asia to win the Royal Trophy.

"I was a member of the two teams that were beaten in the previous Royal Trophy matches, so winning this time is even more special. It is a proud day for us all."

Singles results. Ishikawa halved with Hansen; Liang lost to Lawrie 3&2; Wi lost to Dougherty one down; Prayad beat Larrazabal 5&4; Tanihara lost to Wilson 3&2; Ho lost to Edfors 5&4; Taniguchi beat Fasth 7&6; Thongchai beat McGinley 5&4.

Match result: Asia 10 Europe 6.

Tiger Woods Video

Our first Tiger Woods video page features over 50 videos of Tiger being the man he is. We recently watched a Tiger Woods video in the 2008 US Open, his last tournament before his infamous knee injury, and we drew wood at his 2 eagles in the third round and of course the Tiger Woods 18th hole putt to force a playoff with Rocco Mediate. For those Tiger Woods fan club fans who are looking for only the best Tiger Wood videos, www.golfuncut.com is the place to come. You can see all his greatest shots, in depth interviews, behind the scenes action from his commercials, photos and of course Elin Woods, Tiger Woods wife photos and videos and more. This has been called "the ultimate Tiger Woods multimedia website" by Slice Girl golf babe and sexy Thai girl Angelina Bogie, and trust us, she knows her shit. For those of you not looking for Tiger Woods video, we invite you to check out our funny golf videos or golf swing videos that are becoming very popular with our 100,000 strong fan base. It's all good at golfuncut homie.

The Masters Golf Videos

Being the first major of the year there is always a certain buzz around the Masters and it's the favorite tournament of many professional golfer on the PGA Tour. This was also one of the first major golf videos sections we uploaded and is still one of the most popular. Mind you, they're all bloody popular and we say that about every golf video category we have. When you check out our huge selection of Masters golf videos you can see all the best Master moments including Tiger Woods magical victory in 1997, Jack Nicklaus' impressive win at the age of 46 in the 1986 Masters and Greg Normans final round meltdown in 1996. Also see Brandt Snedeker crying about his final round performance and also about the fact he doesnt have his very own golf video section like Tiger Woods or the Slice Girls golf babes. You won't see too many golf babes that look sexy anywhere near the masters, unless of course you come here to www.golfuncut.com the home of the golf video and sexy golf babes. We have the best interviews, highlights, inside stories, features and pretty much everything else to do with the Masters Golf tournament videos at Augusta National golf club. Come relive the joy of The Masters, our favourite golf tournament, at least before they made all the changes, it's now become probably the worst tournament.

Ryder Cup Videos

This year the Americans took home the Ryder Cup for the first time in....many years. Captain Slice is an All-American when it comes to Tiger Woods and some of the other American golfers but collectively he picks the Europeans. We have all the best coverage of the 2008 and past Ryder Cups including all the matches, great highlights, interviews and pretty much everything a Ryder Cup video fan could ask for. These Ryder Cup videos are a welcome change from us talking about Tiger Woods videos and funny golf videos and golf babes that are really hot. Don't you think? Anyway, watch as Anthony Kim and Boo Weekley become Ryder Cup stars and Nick Faldo tells the media "he doesn't care". Nick delivered a somewhat controversial opening speech in this years Ryder Cup and his final speech also caused some shit when he told everybody to bring their rain coats in a reference to it pissing down in Wales most of the year. We don't have any argument with that Nick, so like we said, once you can get yourself away from the Slice Girls golf babes sexy golf girls and hot girls golf videos go in and enjoy all the action from the Ryder Cup.

Rules of Golf Videos

Our Rules of golf videos are immaculate. We have something for everyone in these totally wickedious golf videos. Why Golfuncut.com was started by two Slice Girl golf babes Stacy Stickler and Jessica Albatross. They tore off some clothes (not enough in our opinion) and went over 50 rules on golf video. Unfortunately most of them turned out to be crap so we ended up with only a few and decided to download them from the USGA's website, which we know they will be just thrilled about. We don't quite understand the USGA, they preach spreading the game and the importance of learning the rules of golf, yet have a nasty little statement on their website basically saying "we ain't sharing our golf rules videos and if you use them we will do you in like a chocolate lunch". This didn't stop Captain Slice who found a super fast wifi connection one day and downloaded a gigs worth of USGA golf videos in about 10 minutes. But we digress as we often do and if you really want to be worthy of watching some funny golf videos or Tiger Woods videos then you really should check out our rules of golf vids.

Ping Golf Videos

Ping Golf have been one of the longest running golf equipment companies and are very popular with college players, who happen to also love our sexy Slice Girl golf babes and Tiger Woods videos. On Pings golf website they have a collection of golf videos to die for, and Captain Slice being the choice fella he is, has downloaded them all for your viewing pleasure. Listen to Ping Golf tour staff Chris Dimarco, Hunter Mahan, Daniel Chopra and Mark Calcavecchia talk about their golf careers and how much they want us to upload some more funny golf videos. Ping Golf are one of the top sellers in green grass shops and their Ping irons have been voted iron of the year by someone we forget several times. Captain Slice has a ping golf bag and it's now about 10 years old and still stands up to the rigours of making birdies and playing the back nine several times over with the Slice Girls golf babes.

PGA Pro Interviews

AT golfuncut, the home of golf videos, we cover every golf video subject but one of our most popular video sections are the PGA Pro Interviews Videos. Unfortunately it would be even more popular if we had come up with a really witty name but Captain Slice has spent way too much chatting up the Slice Girl golf videos and watching Tiger Woods videos. We have all the best and juiciest golf videos of PGA Pros and their best interviews with media from walks of life. Go inside a PGA Tour Pro's mind and find out really exciting things like who their favorite Slice Girl golf babe is, what their favorite golf video is and why they have never been invited to Tiger Woods house. This is golf video paparazzi at its very best and anybody entering finds it hard to leave and we cut down the walls and get the Pro's to let a few demons out of the bag, or rather we let other people probe and ask really annoying and repetitive questions then pick the best and then upload them to our golf videos collection which is the best and largest on the Internet.

Natalie Gulbis Show Videos

Since coming onto the LPGA Natalie Gulbis has been the subject of many a young whippersnapper golfers dreams. We like to call her the quintessential golf babe and in fact Natalie Gulbis might have invented the term golf babes. If you go searching for Natalie Gulbis videos on golfuncut.com you wont find a Natalie Gulbis section but you will find one page devoted entirely to the Natalie Gulbis Show featuring some inside and behind the scenes golf videos of this sexy golf babe. You can also see more Natalie Gulbis golf videos in our golf babes videos section and of course the largest selection of golf hotties and girls on the web features a while gallery of Natalie doing what she does best, and that's looking good. Feel free to email us and tell The Slice Girls why you think Natalie Gulbis is the sexiest little golf vixen on the planet or perhaps you think one of very own Slice Girls golf babes such as Jessica Albatross, Wendy Whiff, Jennifer Lobez or Tyra Shanks is better material for you to get your thrills over. Captain Slice is neutral although has a particular fancy for Angelina Bogie.

PGA Championship Golf Videos

The PGA Championship video is probably the least watched and least prestigious major of the year yet you know we're the home of golf videos because we have a whole section devoted entirely to the PGA Championship. Everybody remembers the titanic duel and perhaps the greatest duel ever between Tiger Woods and Bob May. By the way, have we mentioned that if you're wanting to watch Tiger Woods videos then we also have over 100 of his golf videos. Admittedly our PGA Championship videos are the weakest of all our golf videos collections, with only 32 vids to show you, and 18 of those are flyovers! Stink, we know, but like we said, not may people have PGA Championship videos to show golfers like yourself. However, if you're sneeky enough you can see more PGA videos in our its a rap golf videos so just go on into golfuncut.com and watch all 2,000 or so golf videos now on the site.

Golf News Videos

The home of golf videos on the Internet, that would be us, now is onto it's 300th golf news video. The Its A Rap golf videos all started out with golfalicious sexy golf babe Condoleeza Slice, who wowed and wooed our visitors with her cutting edge sultry style for delivering golf news. We couldnt afford to pay Condy for very long so she got the boot. Nevertheless Captain Slice, the king of golf videos, quickly decided that he would take some breaking news type videos from golf video websites around the web. he found them everywhere from youtube to break.com to NBC to ESPN to PGATour.com and when he found them he would upload them for the world to see and that they did. All confusing stuff especially when you write totally confusing style like this. Anyway, for all the latest golf news video from the best and biggest golf tournaments from around the world, you must go on in and see all of our golf videos news things. We're now onto Its A Rap 7 so if you've missed a tournament or round or news about any tournament around the golfing world you can come right here to golfuncut.com for the updates. Totally sweet - we know.

The Golf Channel Golf Videos

Unlike Golf Tips Mag, the Golf Channel is not into sharing, which is a shame and probably why Jack and Arnie never really got along. Not only do they not share, their website is probably the worst to try and find a golf video you are looking for. Just try finding the latest golf central. Ocassionally it will pop up on the home page or on the main golf videos page but more often than not they make it harder to find then a Elin Woods tittie shot. Not that Tiger Woods would approve of that. But we digress. The Golf Channel obviously hires one of Arnies mates, or at least the same age as he or she knows nothing about websites. Just check the comments in the golf videos section or in the forum and you will see it littered with comments mad dawging the site and its lack of user friendliness. Anyway, don't go to the golf channel to watch any golf videos because we have downloaded a bunch of Grey Goose 19th Hole featuring the Hawk and some other famous golf media dudes. Not the most riveting stuff in the world, but neither is the golf channel. What is up with The Golf Channel anyway, if you look at many of the golf forums around the internet they all seem to say the same thing and that is that the Golf Channel sucks and is way too obsessed with Tiger Woods. We're obsessed with Tiger Woods too, just go take a look at our 3 pages of Tiger Woods videos, or check out wwww.tigergivesmewood.com if you don't believe us.

Golf Tips Magazine Videos

The lads over at golftipsmag have made their golf tip videos available as downloadable podcsts, which our sexy golf babes is particularly arousing. Not like some other sites who insist on keeping their golf videos secret and not sharing them with anybody - totally selfish. Golfuncut.com has a small collection of golf tips mag videos but for the whole damn lot, and there are a lot, make sure you go over to golftipsmag.com and watch their entire collection. We think you will definitely hit the ball like Tiger Woods if you check out their website. The Slice Girls themselves buy Golf Tips Mag each month, even though they already play off + handicaps, Golf Tips Mag gets the thumbs up from all The Slice Girls golf babes (check them out in the golf babes gallery). We suggest you subscribe to their magazine and if you live outside the USA you can spend hours on their totally cool website.

Golf Tips Video

It seems a lot of you didn't know abut our golf swing videos and we had thousands of you contacting us asking for more and more golf swing and golf lesson videos so one of the Slice Girls at www.golfuncut.com uploaded a whole new collection of golf tips and golf lesson videos. We start off with a great series of golf tips from the greatest player ever to play the game, Jack Nicklaus. Tiger Woods video fans will be a bit disappointed but we think Jack is money. There's also a number of varied golf tip videos from a range of different golf professionals and you're bound to learn something really good if you watch all of them.

Golf Swing Videos

When golfers like yourself click onto our home page the first thing they do is lock the door and enter our golf babes sexy golf babes photo gallery and pics page, then they rush into the golf babes videos section to get a further serving of sexy golf girls wearing not much clothes. But what a lot of them dont know is we have a whole really sweet collection of golf swing videos that will satisfy your desire to see the best golf swings in the world. Most of the worlds top 50 golfers are featured here including Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson and all the other great golf legends that you can also check out in our legends of golf videos section. But this is all about the golf swing videos where you can see slow motion golf swings of the worlds best PGA Tour players. Break down their swing then spend hours on the driving range trying to copy and mimic their golf swings. Hell, you can even video your own golf swing and send it in to us for one of the Slice Girls to analyse and the whole golfing world to see.

Golf Movies

Over 50 clips from the top and best golf movies ever made. These include Kevin Costner in Tin Cup, one of our favorites, although a little commercial, The Legend of Baggar Vance also has one or two clips but Captain Slice thinks this golf movie is a bit crap. Daly's Suspended

Wayward golf star John Daly is welcome back in Australia, despite being suspended from his home US PGA Tour.

Daly said on Wednesday he had been suspended for six months by the PGA Tour for conduct that brought unwelcome publicity.

The tour does not discuss disciplinary action against its players and Daly says he is unsure when his suspension began but hopes it ends in May.

That would mean he played in Australia's three major tournaments recently while banned from the US circuit.

However, that does not appear to have been an issue for Australasian PGA Tour officials and Australian Masters promoter David Rollo of IMG said he would be happy for the American to return.

"Our experiences with him on the Masters were entirely positive. He was a pleasure to deal with so, if the circumstances were right again, we'd certainly look at giving him an invitation back," Rollo said.

Daly played the Masters, Australian PGA and Australian Open with the only controversy coming when he snatched a fan's camera - cameras are not permitted in the crowd - and hurled it against a tree.

Rollo said that the US Tour had contacted Australasian Tour director of tournaments Andrew Langford-Jones and asked for a report on Daly's behaviour during the Masters at Huntingdale.

"It was exemplary in terms of everything we ever asked him to do in terms of media conferences and so on. He was outstanding and Andrew fed that back in," Rollo said.

"He is a decent individual, there's no question in my mind about that and hopefully he gets his game back to where it should be."

Daly said he revealed his suspension "to be fair to my fans and tournament organisers" and explain his absence from the tour in the first three months of the season when he typically plays.

He has not played on the PGA Tour since he missed the cut on October 17 in Las Vegas.

Ten days later, police in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, said he appeared intoxicated outside a Hooters restaurant, and he was taken to jail to sleep it off.

It is the second time the former USPGA and British Open champion has been suspended, the 42-year-old describing his latest ban as the lowest point of a wild 18-year career.

Daly, who last won at the Buick Invitational in 2004, has a five-year exemption as a past champion which runs out this year.

He said he would continue playing the European tour, starting with a three-week swing in the United Arab Emirates.

"There's always light with me. Right now, my home tour is probably Europe. And I love the European tour. I always have. But my home is the United States. That's where I would rather play," he said.

Daly said he learned of the suspension after PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem sent a letter to his agent, Bud Martin.

"Tim and his staff have to do what they do," Daly said.

"Truly and honestly, I wish Tim would get to know the facts better before he makes a decision.

"I would love to sit down and have a nice talk with him, tell him what really happened.

"But perception is reality in the world and sometimes they have to do what they have to do."
