How to have a successful business golf day

Here’s 9 tips that will help you close the deal after a round of business golf.
1/ Be prepared, bring band-aids, lots of tees, golf balls, sunblock. Be the go-to guy if your clients have forgotten anything
2/ Know your stuff: Leave your ball retriever, iron covers, iron organizers, and stroke counters behind. You might as well stick a sign to your forehead that reads “I’m a newbie, don’t laugh”.
3/ Betting is ok but let the client ask. It’s ok to win, but rubbing it in isn’t
4/ Play fast, always play faster than your client. You don’t want them waiting on you on or off the course
5/ Always acknowledge a good shot but don’t go consoling bad shots, it can come off as patronizing
6/ Bring a golf gift. A TaylorMade driver isn’t necessary but a dozen golf balls, cap or nice golf towel will go down like a treat
7/ Leave your F’s, C’s and club throwing expertise for your Saturday regular foursome. It’s true, you client will be judging you on your behaviour
8/ If you see your client cheating, bite your tongue and think twice about giving him 30 days credit
9/ Go easy on the booze. In fact, I wouldn’t drink any unless your client asks you
Follow these rules and you’re on your way to becoming a pro business golfer!
