How to know what tees you should play from

Most golf courses these days will have up to five sets of tees. Here’s a general guide of what the tees are for, with many courses changing colors. Black (sometimes blue) are for the Pro’s and scratch or better amateurs. Blue for 1-8 handicap, Gold for 9-18 and white for everything above that. Of course, red is for chicks, or guys that wear dresses. There is no official rule that requires you to play from a certain set of tees, but most guys will tend to play from tees that are too difficult for them. It isn’t much fun hitting long irons and fairway woods into all the par 4’s, so choose wisely and leave your ego in the bag. Remember, they have different sets of tees for a reason. Slow play is partly due to the fact that most players try to play from the wrong sets of tees. So when deciding what set of tees to play from know your limitations and don’t try to be a hero.
